Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the great herbal traditions of the world and still forms a major part of healthcare provision in China alongside Western-style medicine. It has a history stretching back to 3rd century BC and with many centuries of clinical experience has developed treatments that continue to prove effective for wide ranging health conditions. The two sentences above have been paraphrased from the website of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM) of which I am a registered member. You can find a whole host of detailed and thorough extra information there, including why it’s best to have your treatment with a fully qualified practitioner.

Herbal medicine is exactly that – all plant-based and vegan friendly. It can be used to help with many conditions and I normally work with a granular form that can be made into a tea with boiled water. This makes it convenient to take anywhere. That said, there are occasions where it is more appropriate to make the tea from the ‘raw herb’ form. This will be discussed and decided with you during your consultation.

Sometimes, depending on your specific health condition, the herbs will be made into a topical application for you in the form of a cream, gel, or even a wash. Again this will be discussed with you during your consultation.

You can choose to take your consultation with me in person or over the web, and if you’re already having acupuncture with me you can opt to include herbal medicine as an ‘add on’ with your next treatment.
